The Extra Step

“How come you’re always talking about
chiropractic for kids?”

The short answer is that being a pediatric chiropractor is awesome. As a chiro kid myself (thanks Nonna Donna!), a dad, and a nervous system aficionado, this is the thing we are not talking enough about.

The fact is, most people don’t need to be reminded that chiropractic is great for headaches and musculoskeletal conditions. But when you consider the impact of birth trauma, neurodevelopmental stress, and the explosion of sensory, emotional, and social challenges of many kids today, the frame changes. The effect on both individual families and society at large is right in front of us. That effect starts with a cause. At the most foundational level is the adaptive capacity of the nervous system to regulate the body’s responses to the environment.

When that adaptive capacity is overwhelmed, under resourced, or uncoordinated, the body will begin to exhibit signs of dis-ease. Chiropractic connects these dots, and can provide hope, answers, and help to kids and families who are looking for something beyond medicalized medication management.

The extra step from good for head and spine to what do the head and spine support and protect? can help clarify what chiropractors have been talking about all this time - it’s about the nervous system!
